Ta-daaaa!

I consider it a half-success. It's nowhere near as photo-realistic as I wanted. I'm no Alex Ross, obviously...
and eagle-eyed viewers will notice I reluctantly resorted to the computer to add a bit of depth and glowing effects. Here's the original exactly as I scanned it in... I think it looks a little cluttered:

A week's work... it took me way too long when you consider what I'll be getting paid for it. But it was nice to flex the ol' painting muscles again.

Really cool to see the progression. Nice to be able to compare your finished painting with the digital inhancements too - very instructive stuff!
A lovely cover. I look forward to the book, and hope to see more.
Wow! Beautiful piece of work, mate. Are you planning to attend the Birmingham con? Hopefully see you there. All the best.
Looks great - superheros shouldn't be too photorealistic or else they start to look ridiculous - they only work in a stylised world.
Don't beat yourself up over the end result, Chris.
The cover looks great and you've sold me on the book. I wasn't planning on picking it up since it was a reprint and therefore not part of the regular series, and this cover actually won me over.
I'm gonna buy it now!
Fantstic, fantastic, fantastic!
I absolutely love your work.
As ever... brilliant! You continue to impress, Chris and yes, nice to see you painting again.
Fantastic Chris great work!
Just an amazing piece of pulpy goodness!
Can't say more than what's been said Chris! Other than asking why you would want to be more like Alex bloomin'Ross when you produce work of this amazing standard?!
